All cakes made by Sarah’s Cake Studio are subject to the following terms and conditions:
CAKES
All my ingredients are fresh and cakes are made of vanilla sponge with jam and butter cream unless stated otherwise. Other fillings are available on request. Sponge and chocolate cakes do not have nuts as an ingredient but their may be nut traces present. My fruitcake does contain nuts and alcohol. My cakes are made with vegetable fats and contain dairy products. All piping contains traces of egg. All of my products are made in a kitchen where there are nuts or trace of nuts, therefore I cannot guarantee that any of my products are suitable for Nut Allergy Sufferers and would therefore strongly advise anyone with an allergy from eating my products.
ORDERS
I require a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks notice on all celebration cakes and 1 month for wedding cakes. However, please ring to check just in case as it just depends on how busy I am. (Please order as early as you can.) For bespoke cakes, I can only create the finished article from what I interpret from the wording of your order. Any additional amendments after collection/delivery may be charged.
PAYMENT
I require a non-refundable £10 deposit for celebration cakes and £50 deposit for wedding cakes. The balance is due on delivery/collection for celebration cakes and 1 week before for wedding cakes. Please note I only accept cheque or cash at the moment.
DELIVERY
All cakes are delivered boxed. Delivery is free within 6 miles of Burley-in-Wharfedale; if delivery is required outside of this area, then I will provide a quotation. Please note, no liability can be accepted for damage to any cakes after delivery. All cakes will be delivered on your chosen delivery date. If you require your cake at a specified time please contact me.
CANCELLATION
The deposit can not be refunded. Work already complete is chargeable. In the event that I cannot complete an order due to illness or unforeseeable circumstances, I will endevour to find a cakemaker that can complete the order but if I am unable to in the timeframe, then I will let you know as soon as possible and all deposits will be returned.
CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS
Corrections and repairs to cakes can be corrected on the same day in most cases. You are required to give me this opportunity and must let me know of the problem within 24 hrs of accepting your cake. Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible. Cakes must be returned within three days to ensure I am able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint. The maximum refund I offer is the value of the cake. Further compensation is not available. I will make every effort possible to ensure your cake exceeds your expectations. However, in some instances the finished product may differ slightly from the fact that each cake is individually hand made. I am not responsible for damage caused off the premises. At all times I will endeavour to delight you with my quality of products and service.
EDIBLE IMAGES & SUGAR MODELS
Edible images can be put on almost any cake. Editing and altering images may involve extra charges. I need to send them off to be printed onto edible paper but I can scan any photograph or image to turn it into an electronic image to e-mail to the supplier. Whenever an image is scanned and printed the quality deteriorates so make sure you give us the best quality pictures you can. If you wish to supply a digital picture, I only accept jpg images. Sugar models are made with edible modeling paste. In some instances the model may contain inedible material (Eg: glasses on figures are made from wire) so should not be eaten.
CAKE STORAGE & SHELF LIFE
All cakes should be stored in a cool dark place on a flat sturdy surface. Never put cakes in the fridge (other than buttercream cupcakes, but only if you need to keep them for more than a day or so). Sponge, Chocolate and Carrot cake will keep for one week after delivery if covered. Fruitcake last perfectly well for months. Cupcakes should ideally be eaten within a day or 2 of purchase, especially the buttercream ones, though the sugarpaste ones may last 3 or 4 days if kept in a container.
